Christmas Programs
Christmas is a busy time of
the year at the Settlement's Community Center! Because
many of the families in our area have trouble making ends meet,
we try to do everything we can to make Christmas a blessing
instead of a struggle for these families.

One way in which we do this is our Angel Gift
program. Children in the program will make a list of gifts
they would like to receive, along with clothing and shoe sizes,
and churches and individuals will "adopt" the children,
purchasing the presents for the Settlement to distribute.
In 2007, through the generosity of many of our supporters, we
were able to give out nearly three hundred Angel Gifts! |

Another important program is our Christmas
party for all of the children that are served by Settlement
programs. Families gather at the gym for a special
Christmas message, refreshments and a visit with Santa.
Each child receives two age-appropriate gifts (donated by
supporters of the Settlement), and parents can pick up personal
supplies and a blanket. We had 367 people attend the
Christmas party held in December 2007. |
| In addition, families who receive
food boxes get a special treat at
Christmas--a box of food that includes all the ingredients for a
special Christmas dinner. Much of the support for food in
these boxes was donated by churches and individuals, and they
help to feed around two hundred families at Christmas. |
